From first to last pitch, the Jaguar Varsity Softball team charged the field with strong bats, teamwork defense, and good spirits. With a good at-bat by Quillen landing her at first with a walk, Foxwell stepped to the plate with heavy hands and quick feet. A smack to the outfield cleared the bases bringing both Quillen and Foxwell home. Followed by singles from Heins, McCabe, Gibson, the Jaguars kept a strong lead in the first inning. Second inning saw Ashley S. lead off with a walk, Sommer, Heins, Cook, Meg all getting singles (Cook with the RBI) the Jags held on to their lead. Third inning the enthusiasm maintained intensity as Smith was walked, Ashley got a single, and then Quillen stepped up to the plate and SMACKED one out to right-center, bringin all three of them home for an 8-0 lead. Another fantastic hit was made by Dana Cook, getting herself a beautiful triple and another solid hit from Q that put her at 2nd.
Defensively, the mighty Jags saw excellent pitching by Ashley Stegemiller, and very agressive plays by Kaitlin Sommer behind the plate, keeping Stuart from stealing. MP Abraham came in to catch during the 4th inning, maintaining the iron curtain with fantastic blocks and good communication.
Great job to all! Next game is against W-L, away, Monday night.
