Joseph Collins #8
Position: QB
Ht, Wt 5’9 175
Football Experience: 10 yrs (2 year Varsity player)
Born: Fairfax, VA. Age: 17
Nicknames: Long Ball (new name given by me)
Joey has been apart of the football program at Falls Church for 4 years. He has been a part of the Varsity team for two years. He got his chance to play last year when the starting QB got hurt in the 7th game of the season. Joey’s record was 2-1 as a starter. He had 66 pass attempts with 32 completions for 469 yards and 4 TD. He has worked hard all summer by lifting weights, running and participating in several passing leagues. Joey’s hard work and a pretty awesome receiving corp (Max Hurrkamp, Tony Collins, Jose Perez and RJ Davis) have the opportunity to do some great things.
“Long Ball” is the kind of player that you like to have in your program. He’s not the best athlete, but he has a great work ethic. He identified what the weaknesses in his game were and took it upon himself to improve in those areas. The one asset that the coaching staff really likes is his ability to “run the ball like Mike Vick”…uh no (sorry Joey)…. We like his confidence. He does not let what others say and think about him hold him back. This is an attribute that will be valuable to him throughout his life.
