Boys Indoor Track District Championships Day 1

The First Day of Competition of the Boys' Indoor Track Championships were held at Episcopal High School on Tuesday, February 5th with the Field Events and 4x800m Relay event. It proved to be a very exciting day for our team with the start of the boys' pole vault competition, an event that Falls Church has not competed in several years. Juniors Connor Simmons and team captain, Peter Taylor, waited to jump in on the competition with a starting height of 8 feet. They both cleared the bar with ease on their first attempt intimidating their competition from Edison HS. Peter and Connor drew a large crowd of support with their impressive vaults. Connor had to jump back and forth between the pole vault and Long Jump events as they went off at the same time. Peter and Connor both went on to easily clear 8'6" and 9 feet on their first attempts. They both cleared 9'6" for personal bests with Connor placing 2nd and Peter in 3rd. Both will advance to the Northern Region Championships at George Mason University on February 23rd. Connor also will advance in the Long Jump and the High Jump. He placed 4th in the Long Jump and 6th in the High Jump.
