Date Posted: Jan 12, 2010
Game Date: Jan 09, 2010

Immediately following the meet against Yorktown, the team traveled to Newport News for the Kecoughtan Invitational. After about 3-4 hours of sleep, the girls managed to finish 13th overall, with many great swims!

The girls 200 Medley A Relay (Clara Dombroski, Laura Schwartz, Maggie Cullather, Sydney Langer) not only reached a Regional Championship qualifying time, they broke a 1980 school record. They had been about 3 seconds off of the record all season before going a 1:56.85 to win the consolation finals.

Freshman Laura Schwartz re-broke her school records in the 200 IM and the 500 FR en route to two second place finishes. In the 200 IM, she just missed winning the event with a 2:07.99. This time is also just shy of an All American Consideration mark, which could put her in the top 130 high school swimmers in the country. Laura also posted a 5:06.16 in the 500 FR.

The girls 400 Free A Relay (Sydney Langer, Clara Dombroski, Maggie Cullather, Laura Schwartz) also posted an extremely fast time in their 10th place finish (2nd in the consolation finals). Their time of 3:54.73 was just shy of hte 2005 school record.

Also participating in the Kecoughtan Invitational were Kristina Clingaman, Francesca Dombroski, Alana Harris, Shelley Kendall, Kara Sims, Marisa Sims, Chnar Sindi and Emily Sturges.

Great swimming, girls! We look forward to the coming weeks!
