BOYS SWIM & DIVE: SWIM A THON

The Swim & Dive teams participated in the Ted Mullins Swim a Thon. Each year the swim and dive teams fundraiser, partially for the team and partially for a charity. For the fourth year, the team chose to benefit the Ted Mullins Cancer Research Fund.
Ted Mullins was coached by one of FCHS's former head coaches (Kelly Carmichael). The succombed to cancer in the fall of 2006. While most other teams race in the "Hour of Power," Falls Church does its part with an hour long Swim a Thon.
During this year's Swim a Thon, we had record breaking swims. Senior Alex Howe swam 200 lengths (5000 yards) in the hour. Senior teammate David Blincoe, who swam 172 lengths (4300 yards), battled with sophomore Will Rogers, who swam 168 lenghts (4200 yards). Also notable was freshman Ryan Davenport, who swam 159 lengths (3975 yards). These boys were part of 20 boys team members who took part in the Swim a Thon. Manager Jose Murillo-Eid and diver Mike Pumphrey assisted with lap counting.
